The B’nai Tzedek teen philanthropy program of The Jewish Federation of San Antonio is another program teaching teens how to be philanthropists:
"Philanthropists are made. Philanthropy is not an innate gift with which you’re born," says David Koch, director of fundraising and endowment development operations for the Jewish Federation. "You have to be taught what it is."
"All too often parents make charitable decisions in a vacuum," Koch says. "They may think kids don’t care about giving or think it’s not any of their business. But raising a generation of charitable kids starts with parents engaging them about how a slice of the household budget should be spent on giving."
