Sean, a quibble about your description of my post. I’m not pessimistic about philanthropy. I’m actually optimistic. My point is the nonprofit sector is going to need to learn how to do more with less. That could be a good thing, building the emphasis on effectiveness.

Fair enough Bob. I guess I should have said that you offered a very pessimistic outlook on the levels of donations we can expect in the future. Even taking into account the recession, it would be historically unprecedented for giving levels to not rebound in relatively short order.
