In my public speaking, I’ve recently ditched Powerpoint and started using software called Prezi. There is a lot to like about Prezi, but one of my favorite features is how easy it is to embed video clips in my presentations. So today, I’m launching a little project to help me find the best videos on the net and I need your help.
I’m looking for gripping, funny, moving, enlightening videos that communicate ideas that are related to philanthropy and social change. They can either be focused on a specific idea related to the social sector or they can demonstrate a particularly good use of video by a nonprofit or foundation.
I’ll collect the entries, publish a bunch of the best ones and announce a winner on Friday. The person who submits the winning entry will get the adoring love of the Tactical Philanthropy community and the video will be featured in my upcoming speeches. I’m also almost sure to use a number of the runner up entries in my presentations.
So send me links to your favorite videos. You can leave the link as a comment to this post, email it to me or tweet the link to @tactphil.
Here’s a few videos that capture what I’m looking for:

Sean,
Great idea! It would be great if you could share a running list of all the recommendations, not just the winning entries.
I know you’ve seen the Girl Effect video, but please count this as one vote for that one. Here’s the link: http://www.girleffect.org/
I also think this piece from Healthy City does a really great job conveying the vision of enabling residents to use maps and data to change their communities – excellent animation and music, and more importantly, great visualization of a concept: http://www.healthycity.org/c/ahc/sc/thoughtbubble
Also, here is a link to What’s Your Issue, a fantastic project which aims to collect short pieces from around the world from individuals and groups, as well as some nonprofits, that are intended to move the viewer to action. Worth a look:

Good video, brave leader
Hi Sean,
I’m a big fan of prezi – and huge non-fan of power point. Glad you are enjoying it as well.
Lost Generation video is one of my all time favorites (continued to be impressed by the simplicity of the message & the complexity of how it was written). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42E2fAWM6rA.
Kind of love Lost Generation Sucks – just for its parody.
Cheers,
Michele

A video presentation of a direct action organized by Rainforest Action Network (RAN) protesting the unsustainable use of palm oil by Cargill, the world’s largest agribusiness company.
And a campaign video from our secondary palm oil campaign against General Mills:
