Against the Grain – The Chronicle of Philanthropy
An interesting new blog by Rick Moyers, vice president of programs and communications at the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation. Rick’s first couple posts challenge the idea that nonprofits shouldn’t have a significant operating reserve. Personally, I’d rather fund a nonprofit in good financial health so I tend to agree with Rick.

For all the calls in the philanthropic sector for nonprofits to engage in more evidence based strategies, it is interesting to see the president of the Center for Effective Philanthropy publish a blog post defending their choice to have a keynote speaker well known for her advocacy of field experiments. I like CEP’s take on experimental design.
